Microsoft is offering a new way for small and medium sized businesses to hold online meetings for free with the launch of Skype Meetings. Skype Meetings will give users a professional space to coordinate their work with one another and present to people outside their business without having to pay for Office 365. All you need is a device with an Internet browser, a microphone, speaker and camera, which are included on many devices.
With Skype Meetings you can easily set up meetings and share a URL that participants click to join the session. During the meeting, users can chat via IM, share their screen or PowerPoint presentation, and use the whiteboard and laser pointer features to interact with each other. Meeting organizers will have a dashboard of controls to be able to manage users and more effectively lead presentations.
Anyone in the U.S. with a business email address and whose organization doesn’t already have Office 365 can sign up for free Skype Meetings. For the first 60 days, users can hold meetings for up to ten people and up to three people thereafter. While this may be a little limiting for larger organizations, this is a great solutions for smaller businesses or more intimate presentations.
