Apps, apps, apps. With the mobile workforce in the US forecast to be nearly 120 million strong, it’s no surprise that there are so many business apps available for Apple and Android devices today. However, who has the time to test them all out and decide which are best for their particular business or job function? We certainly don’t, but with our new ongoing Mobile App Series, we’ll at least try – and hopefully cut through the garbage to help you find new ways to be more productive in your everyday mobile computing. First up, Encamp…
Encamp. Many businesses are now using the ever-popular program Basecamp as their project management and collaboration tool – and for good reason. While there are several applications that can bring Basecamp’s desktop functionality to the iPhone, Encamp is the quickest and most flexible iPhone Basecamp app of them all. With Encamp, you can access all of Basecamp’s core features such as projects, messages, to-do lists, and milestones in an interface that loads information quickly, even on slower data connections. Additionally, you can view files such as PDFs, images, and Office documents that are attached to your Basecamp projects. Since Encamp doesn’t store project data the application does require an Internet connection (or data plan) to access your Basecamp data.
Google Analytics App. If your business has a website – and chances are you do – then you probably use some sort of analtyics tool to monitor traffic, visitor behaviors, and trends. If you are one of the many that uses Google Analytics for this, you non longer have to rely on a standard web browser to view these reports, thanks to the Google Analytics App. Obviously, this app is available for Android, and a company called Inblosam has an app for your iPhone too. Getting started is as easy as entering your Google account credentials and then you’ll have access to 47 types of reports in a neatly organized interface. Have multiple accounts? No problem; there are custom reports for that too. The “Today” report is one of the simple and efficient highlights, showing you the traffic statistics for the day without having to modify any date ranges.
GoToMeeting App. Here at The Launch Pad, we use a number of Citrix products including GoToWebinar and GoToMeeting, primarily on the desktop. However, using these products on a smart device is now possible thanks to their GoToMeeting app, which has been hailed as one of the online tools that the CEO of Trackur “couldn’t live without.” As an example of its capabilities, he uses it to host online training sessions for his customers, and it has also made virtual meetings between co-workers easy as 1-2-3. From the screen of an iPad or iPhone, colleagues can share presentations, spreadsheets and reports in a matter of seconds!
