Whether I’m packing for a day on the road or for a weekend trip, I try to keep in mind two mandates: 1) Don’t forget anything this time, and 2) Less is more. The Hootoo TripMate is a great little multitasking device that helps me consolidate my packing to lighten my load.
The TripMate is part battery pack, part wi-fi router, and part Network Attached Storage unit (NAS) all rolled into a device the size of a small candy bar. The TripMate’s 5200mAh battery pack allows you to charge your Smartphone with up to 3 full charges and up to 1 full charge for your tablet. It has a battery light indicator that shows just how much juice is left in the TripMate before you need to plug it in and charge it back up. It does have a rather limited range of about 10 feet but if you are in a location without exising wi-fi, it really comes in handy.
Don’t want to clutter up your smart device with extra files and downloads for your trip? Copy them to a USB and use the NAS feature of the TripMate. TripMate provides an app to create a network share between your PC or smart device. Once you’ve downloaded the app, plug the USB into TripMate and you will have full read/write access to the files with the ability to copy any loaded files right to your cell phone or tablet.
