We’ve all experienced that sinking feeling as we stand by the luggage chute realizing that the airline has once again lost our bags. Frequent business travelers have resorted to packing lightly so they need only to fly with a carry-on bag but this isn’t always a possibility. According to SITA, almost 26 million bags are lost each year around the world. Debuting at CES this week, Trackdot is a handy tool that just might solve this inconvenient and expensive problem.
Simply pair the battery operated Trackdot with any smartphone, slip it into your suitcase, and relax knowing you can locate your bag via text or email as soon as your plane lands. Using GSM tracking, the luggage locator system delivers city-specific information on the location of your bag in real time. If you luggage doesn’t reach your destination, you can skip waiting at the luggage carousel and can tell customer service exactly where to find your lost bag. To comply with FAA regulations, when the airplane hits 100mph the radio signal will shut down and will come back on as soon as the plane slows for landing.
Available in March, the Trackdot will sell for $49.95 with an annual fee of $12.99. For the busy traveler, that’s a small price to pay for peace of mind.
