You may have noticed a number of banking and other secure websites have begun using two-factor authentication for an extra layer of security. Now you can add your own two factor authentication (2FA) to you own online accounts and protect your personal data with Authy.
Authy is a mobile and desktop application that can apply 2FA tokens on apps like Facebook, Gmail, Dropbox and any other account that supports Google Authenticator. The first step is to set up an Authy account and enter your cell phone number and email address. Authy will send a registration pin via SMS or a phone call to your cell. Now you are ready to add multiple devices to your Authy account. The 2FA tokens will automatically synchronize on all of your devices, keeping management to a minimum. while sharing the tokens across an internet account isn’t as secure as having an app limited to one active installation, deploying Authy’s flavor of 2FA is certainly more secure than a single password login.
Authy’s starter account offers up to 100 Auths per month and unlimited users. For users that need more than 100 auths, the Pay as You Go option is available for .09 per Auth. The Enterprise version is available with volume pricing for over 10,000 Auths per month.
