There are a lot of password managers available to help us keep up with the multitude of passwords we have for our business accounts, website and app registrations but what happens if you are using a lot of different devices to access these accounts? Dashlane is a multi-platform solution that not only keeps your passwords secure, but also protects sensitive information like your drivers license, ID and bank cards and almost anything else you want to protect from prying eyes.
After installing the app on your desktop, Dashlane will tell you how many saved passwords you have saved in your browser and give you the option to review and encrypt them. Once you have saved your information, you can access your saved passwords by either browsing a list of sites and saved passwords and clicking to be redirected to the browser, or by going directly to the site and the credentials will be automatically filled in. One of the good things about Dashlane is the way it automatically syncs across the different platforms so any information that is entered is available from your smart devices as well as your PC. Dashlane also has a desktop dashboard that provides security health status recommendations such as if you have reused a password for different sites. Are you working with a group of people who need access to your password protected sites? Dashlane has an option for teams, so workgroups can share passwords and notes. Any team passwords that are changed or updated are automatically synced for everyone in the group so no one is locked out.
To protect your financial information, Dashlane offers a digital wallet where you can securely store all of your credit cards, PayPal accounts and bank information. Online purchases will be autofilled with the selected payment information and the app automatically captures receipts for your purchases.
A brand new feature from Dashlane is an inbox scan tool. Many people share login credentials and password information via email messages or sites email credentials when a new account has been created. This information can be easily accessed if your inbox is hacked. The inbox scan tool will automatically search your email inbox for vulnerable information including passwords you have shared. The scan’s assessment will provide an inbox health report showing how many passwords were present as well as how many accounts were created, which were affected by breaches and notifications of weak or reused passwords.
The basic Dashlane app including the password manager and digital wallet is a free download. Dashlane Premium, offering the ability to sync all of your devices to access passwords and a secure account backup costs $39.99 per year.
