In today’s increasingly competitive marketplace, organizations are searching for innovations in technology to increase their productivity and give them a competitive edge. According to a recent CompTIA survey, small and medium-sized businesses across the US are increasingly relying on new information technology solutions to strengthen their operational, marketing and customer engagement activities. The underlying take-away from the survey is that “SMBs want IT that works right the first time” and will look to solutions that do. Thanks to innovation, the steady decrease of the cost of computing power and storage and new business models, technology has never been more accessible to companies of all sizes,” said Tim Herbert, CompTIA’s VP of Research.
Here are some revealing highlights:
- 37% of SMBs surveyed plan to adopt server virtualization over the next 12 months
- Compared to 2009, 2010 may result in a two to three fold increase in the use of managed services
- 45% of survey respondents indicated a need to address the priority of enabling off-site employees to remotely access company networks
The CompTIA study also shows that even the smallest companies face daunting IT challenges with 55% of companies citing keeping up with storage demands at the top of their list.
