In our newest blog series, we are discussing the 3rd wave of the cloud conversation – how to manage mission critical business applications in the cloud to increase productivity and realize a greater reduction in the cost of running your business. In first five installments of the series, we covered Geckoboard, AwayFind, inDinero, Highrise, WorkFlowy and lastly, Boxmeup. In this edition of the series, we will discuss a web based, open source time tracking tool.
In today’s increasingly mobile environment, keeping track of time worked on a project by remote staff, contractors, and consultants so everyone is paid properly can really be challenging. Finding a web-based time tracking solution that is easily accessed with a simple login and password from devices out in the field is key to more accurate, real-time time keeping. eHour is a free, web-based time tracking app that allows users to track time spent on projects and is reliable and secure.
After downloading the application an administrator chooses the day that begins the work week and configures the country, language and currency as well as the data and actions the users wishes to audit. The application allows you to manage by department, user, customers or by other data that the admin specifies using an easy to use reporting wizard.
The only real caveat to using eHour is that you can’t brand the site by replacing the eHour logo with your own. Otherwise, eHour has a very user-friendly interface and has great step-by-step management instructions available on the website and if you need futher assistance, free tech support is available.
