Did you know that out of the 4 billion mobile phones in use, 1.08 billion are smartphones?! One of the major advantages to having a smart phone is being able to download apps… but how do you know what apps to download? Every month in our Mobile App Series Tech Rec’s we will be featuring the apps that we believe would be most beneficial to you when running your business. Check out our January article on Encamp, Google Analytics and GoToMeeting and our February article on RDP Lite, Mighty Meeting and Intuit GoPayment.
We know how busy and hectic life can be so this month we are going to review some apps to help keep you organized: Springpad, Scan2PDF and Documents to Go.
Springpad
With everything that needs to get done it a day almost everyone needs a personal assistant to stay organized. Springpad allows you to gather your to-do list, memos, reminder notes, etc. all in one place. Once you have added information you can then compile it on a visual corkboard with images, web content, maps and other content. Another great feature is Springpad allows you to organize the content into notebooks so you can keep work, home, vacation and personal information all in separate groups. All of the content is stored in the Cloud which allows you to sync the app with many different devices or access your content from their website.
Scan2PDF
Most people do not carry around a scanner in their pocket or purse but most do have their smart phones! Scan2PDF allows you to scan documents right on to your phone using the build in camera. Once you have scanned the image it can then be converted to into a PDF and saved or emailed. The app allows you to scan business documents, magazine articles, business cards or whatever else you may want.
Documents to Go
This app is similar to Quickoffice in the sense that it works with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF’s, however Documents to Go has a few great additional features. The free version allows you to view files but the paid version ($14.99) allows you to actually edit Office files. Some of the cool features are: view documents with tracked changes, supports password protected files, embedded graphics, footnotes and you can view/edit in portrait and landscape mode. Being able to have access to view and edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint files on the go is very important to a busy business person. The paid version of this app is pricey but it is almost impossible to find a cheaper app with all the same great features.
